goodwill furniture

this is my new find. $8 at goodwill. i really like the style but hate the color. the color will change, i just need to decide on one first. any ideas? i was almost thinking red and black, but if someone else has a better idea, let me know. as soon as i was done at goodwill, i went over to home depot and bought new sleek brushed aluminum pulls. these are actually the same pulls i put on all of my cabinets in the kitchen of my house. even though i won't be living there anymore, i'm sure seeing these pulls on my new but used cabinet will remind me of home.

I would paint the outside a dark color - either a very dark grey or dark brown. Then paint the doors slightly off white. Or you could just paint the doors...makes me think of this MASH Studios entertainment center:

thanks jess. that is a pretty cool entertainment center. i like the dark grey idea with the light color doors. i'm not sure how i'm going to paint it yet. maybe spray paint? or should I sand it then hand paint it? any ideas?

hmm...i'm not sure about the technicalities of painting it, tho i agree, stay w/ dark brown and neutrals. maybe like this - http://www.conranusa.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=900019&cid=SALE&language=en-US
or if you want something more crazy, you could cover the doors w/ a cool graphic paper - http://www.designspongeonline.com/2008/06/before-and-after-barbaras-side-table.html

okay okay, i like your ideas! i decided on spraying it black since i have a few more black pieces of furniture. now concerning the doors... i just went to papersource to look for some fun paper. i almost settled on an aqua colored lokta handmade paper, then wasn't sure. that was a solid color. should i go for a pattern? i'm not much a pattern person but maybe that would look better. what do you think?

Personally, I would avoid a pattern on something that cannot easily be changed...but if it's paper, maybe it would be easy to change?
